WHAT: Comedians Dean Obeidallah and Aron Kader from the “Axis of Evil” and “Arabs Gone Wild” comedy tours will speak to D.C.-area college students about the role of comedy in combating stereotypes about Muslims and Arabs
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7:30pm
WHERE: American University, Capital Auditorium, Tenley Campus, 4300 Nebraska Ave. NW
Veteran comedian Dean Obeidallah is famous for his stand-up routines touching on Muslims, Arabs, and hot-button topics. Along with Aron Kader, a founding member of the “Axis of Evil Comedy Tour,” Dean will speak to university students from across the D.C.-area about how comedy can combat stereotypes. The comedians are in town for a performance of their “Arabs Gone Wild” comedy tour, but are taking time out to present this free event to students in conjunction with AU’s Project Nur chapter.
Project Nur is a student organization that includes students from various backgrounds, cultures, and faiths to work together on human rights and civil rights initiatives. Project Nur is a student-led initiative of the American Islamic Congress.
